Day 1: Cusco – Tambomachay / Patabamba – Andean Community
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. From there, we'll travel to the trailhead, typically located near Tambomachay, Patabamba, or another nearby starting point, depending on the confirmed itinerary. As we leave the city behind, the scenery quickly transforms into rolling hills, open fields, and peaceful Andean landscapes.
After a brief orientation from your guide, we'll begin hiking along ancient mountain trails through the Peruvian Andes. Along the route, you'll pass traditional farming communities, grazing alpacas and sheep, scenic lagoons, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding mountains. We'll hike at a comfortable pace, making regular stops to rest, stay hydrated, and appreciate the scenery.
This first day offers an authentic introduction to rural Andean life. Depending on the route, we'll pass villages where local families continue practicing centuries-old farming and herding traditions. Your guide will share fascinating insights into local customs, history, and the importance of these ancient pathways within the Inca world.
By late afternoon, we'll arrive at our overnight accommodation, which may be a fully equipped campsite, a local homestay, or a lodge, depending on the selected program. After a freshly prepared dinner, you'll have time to relax and prepare for the following day's hike to Huchuy Qosqo and its spectacular views over the Sacred Valley.

Day 2: Andean Community – Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Cusco
After breakfast, we'll continue hiking toward the highlight of the trek: the impressive archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. The trail follows ancient Inca paths through mountain landscapes, deep ravines, and scenic viewpoints, with increasingly spectacular views of the Sacred Valley unfolding along the way.
Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a guided tour of Huchuy Qosqo, whose name means "Little Cusco" in Quechua. Your guide will explain the site's history, architecture, and its importance within the Inca Empire. As you explore its agricultural terraces, finely crafted stone walls, adobe structures, ceremonial areas, and storage buildings, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for this remarkable yet lesser-visited archaeological treasure.
Perched high above the Sacred Valley, Huchuy Qosqo offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, fertile farmlands, and traditional Andean villages. Reaching the site on foot makes the experience especially rewarding, combining adventure, history, and unforgettable scenery.
After exploring the archaeological complex, we'll descend toward Lamay in the Sacred Valley, where our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco. We'll arrive in the city during the afternoon, bringing an end to this memorable two-day trekking adventure.
