Day 1: Puno – Uros Islands – Amantaní – Cultural Experience with a Local Family
The experience begins with pickup from your hotel in Puno at approximately 7:00 AM, followed by a transfer to the port of Lake Titicaca. From there, we board a tourist boat and begin our journey across the highest navigable lake in the world.
Our first stop is the famous Uros Floating Islands, built entirely from totora reeds by communities that have inhabited this region for centuries. During the visit, you'll learn how these artificial islands are constructed and maintained while discovering the traditions, customs, and way of life of their inhabitants.
After visiting the Uros Islands, we continue our journey to Amantaní Island. Along the way, you'll enjoy spectacular views of Lake Titicaca and the mountains surrounding the Andean highlands.
Upon arrival in Amantaní, you'll be welcomed by a local host family who will accompany you to their home and introduce you to an authentic community-based tourism experience. After lunch, you'll have time to rest and explore the surrounding community.
In the afternoon, we'll hike to one of the island's most important ceremonial centers, known as Pachatata or Pachamama, located at the highest point of Amantaní. From here, you'll enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of Lake Titicaca, especially at sunset when the sun disappears behind the surrounding mountains.
After the hike, you'll return to your host family's home for a traditional dinner prepared by your hosts. Depending on community activities, you may also have the opportunity to participate in a cultural gathering featuring traditional music and local attire.

After breakfast with your host family, we'll say goodbye to the community and continue our boat journey to Taquile Island, one of the most famous islands on Lake Titicaca.
Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a leisurely walk along trails surrounded by agricultural terraces and spectacular panoramic views of the lake. During the visit, you'll learn about the island's history and the traditions that have allowed its unique community organization to survive for generations.
Taquile is internationally recognized for its textile traditions. Its handmade textiles are considered among the finest in the Andean world and have been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
